Donation Policy

Webster Family Library gratefully  accepts gifts of materials that are current and relevant to the needs of Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Items must be in good condition and help advance the mission of the library. Because of space considerations, the library only accepts the most recent editions of textbooks we do not currently hold. The Webster Family Library accepts journal issues  to fill gaps in our collection.

The Webster Family Library asks a prospective donor to contact the library by phone [508-839-7957] or by email: webvet@tufts.edu to discuss a potential gift in order to determine if the materials would fit our needs.  A Webster Family Library donation form must accompany donations.

Once materials are received, library staff will make a final evaluation for addition to our collection. Items not selected for the collection will be handled in accordance with the donors' wishes.

The library does not provide monetary valuations for donated materials. If donors wish their gift appraised they should do so prior to delivering the materials. Webster Family Library cannot accommodate an appraiser. Webster Family Library provides letters of acknowledgment to donors but not itemized donation lists.

If added to the library’s collection, donated materials will have a bookplate acknowledging the donor. Once materials are accepted into our collection, they are the property of the Webster Family Library.
