Print subsidy for students

At long last, the print subsidy has arrived. $10 was automatically added to all Tufts students’ JumboCash accounts in January. The $10 can only be used for printing; it cannot be used for food purchases. The subsidy was requested by Tufts undergraduate students and is a service provided by the Tufts Libraries.

Art Gallery Exhibit

A book from the Veterinary Library’s John A. Seaverns Equine Collection is on display at the Directed Looking Gallery at the Tufts University Art Gallery, part of their Spring 2017 exhibits.

Ordini di cavalcare is sharing the exhibit case with 5 books from Tisch Library Special Collections:

Tomato Plant Give-Away

We gave away tomato plants in the Library this week and spawned a feeding frenzy. John Mapel of Mapel Nurseries and Steve Libuda gave us 56 tomato seedling 4-packs on Thursday. They were all claimed within 45 minutes of the email broadcast to the campus! So on Friday, John and Steve brought us another 50 or so seedling 4-packs. These were all claimed within one hour of the email broadcast to the campus and we could have given away even more. John got the seeds from Johnny’s Selected Seeds; they were organically grown.

Ready for the new academic year

The construction workers are gone for now (they'll be back later to work on the roof) and the various spaces in Loew are (almost) back to normal. Thank you Timberline Construction for getting the work done and cleaning up afterwards. We are ready for the new academic year. The microscopes are back in the Teaching Lab. There is a new fridge in the Student Lounge. The air conditioning was turned back on in the Library on Monday, for the first time since mid-June. We have new chillers and boilers. The ramp to the basement level and railings are all new, and up to code.

Loew Maintenance Update - June 2015

The work is progressing. I don't have any details to share, but here are some more pictures (thank you Keith). I know it looks bad, but for any of you looking for a quiet study space, the construction folks leave at 2pm. Luckily the weather has been pretty nice, so the lack of air conditioning hasn't been a problem - we have open windows and fans. They've cut a trench along the west wall in the Loew basement lab. news image Duct work waiting to be installed on the first floor of the library.

Loew maintenance has begun

The maintenance work finally really got started this week with power washing the exterior of the building. It's relatively quiet today, but will probably be noisy next Friday 6/12. The work scheduled for the next couple of weeks includes: power washing the building in preparation to repairing the bricks and mortar, HVAC work, some demolition on the first floor of the library. The Library is open, but we have rearranged furniture and computers in preparation for the work to come. Here is a quick summary of what is happening:
