Loew Medical Education Center will be undergoing a deferred maintenance project this summer. The work will include replacing the roof, chillers and boilers, repointing bricks, replacing windows and addressing moisture problems. There will be days when there is no air conditioning and there will be some power outages. Please call and ask us what work is being done, 508-839-7957 or x87957. You may want to work elsewhere or ask us to send you articles or books.

Banned Books Week is an annual event, highlighting the value of free and open access to information and drawing attention to the harms of censorship. Check out this article posted by the American Library Association which includes a link to frequently challenged books.

The Library's web site has been updated to include a link to veterinary specialty board reading lists for our residents and a search tool called JumboSearch.

The library's summer hours begin on May 29 and run through August 18. We will be open Monday-Thursday 8:00am-6:00pm, Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, and closed on the weekends.

The library hopes to once again host a Farmer's Market this summer with produce donations from the Cummings community. All money collected will be given to the Travis Fund for Needy Animals so, think of the Travis Fund when planning your garden. Look for email notices on market days and contact Betsy Like at x87925 with any questions or to donate produce or flowers.

The library has lots of books to give away! Unfortunately we are running out of space and can't keep the second copies of non-current editions of popular books such as Smith's Large animal internal medicine, Pavletic's Atlas of small animal reconstructive surgery, and many others. Come browse our shelves of free books and take as many as you like.  

This isn't library related, but it's a very interesting video presentation given by Amy Cuddy, a professor and researcher at Harvard Business School, where she studies how nonverbal behavior and snap judgments affect people from the classroom to the boardroom.
